Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) is a measure of the sanitizing ability of water. ORP readings are expressed in millivolts (mV) and are generated voltages in the presence of the oxidizing agent. The more oxidizer available, the greater the voltage. ORP readings give a reliable, real-time method for monitoring and marinating the disinfectant level in wash water. An example is that E. Coli and Salmonella are killed at ORP values of 650 to 700 mV within a short time.
